At Security Conference, French President Warns of Escalating Conflict

Macron: Military Action Could Target Russian Sites

In a significant shift in tone, French President Emmanuel Macron has declared that sending Western troops to Ukraine is not ruled out in the future. Speaking at a security conference in Bratislava, Slovakia, Macron warned that the conflict could escalate and that Western nations must be prepared to take further action.

"We must not exclude anything," Macron said, referring to the possibility of deploying Western troops on the ground in Ukraine. He emphasized, however, that any such action would be limited to "hitting military sites used by Russia" and would only be authorized after careful consideration.

The call for increased Western support comes as Russian forces continue to advance in Ukraine. Macron urged Western leaders to provide more weapons, ammunition, and other assistance to the Ukrainian government. He also stressed the need for diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict, but cautioned that dialogue with Russia is currently "very difficult."
